Peter’s main focus is wealth management covering investment and tax planning. He also leads the team advising trustee investors and developed the market leading Trustee Investment Service. This is designed to cover all the investment issues faced by Trustees and to protect them from any potential claims from beneficiaries.
Peter founded Peter Rutherford & Company in 1992 having moved back to Morpeth from Essex, where he had been working as a successful IFA. He grew the company from scratch to become a well respected regional firm before the merger with Wilkinson Hatton in 2002. Since then the combined entity has blossomed further.Peter first came into the profession in 1979 when he joined the Norwich Union, now Aviva, as a graduate trainee. He had spent 3 years obtaining an honours degree in Law in Liverpool. He also has the Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma in Financial Planning.
