As Chartered Financial Planners we set ourselves apart by having specialist departments delivering tailored services to a wide range of clients, including corporate, individual and trustees.

We recognise that areas of advice have become far more complex over recent years, following changes in legislation, and believe that advice at the highest level can not be provided by the typical 'general practitioner' adviser.

The merger of Wilkinson Hatton and Rutherford Financial Management in 2002, and our subsequent expansion to what Rutherford Wilkinson Ltd is today, has given us sufficient capacity and expertise to enable the establishment of the separate departments, headed by advisers who specialise in those particular areas.

This demonstrates our desire to be at the forefront of providing advice, which started when the late Mitch Wilkinson established the fee based IFA, Wilkinson Hatton, in 1985. He had strongly believed that clients should pay fees for advice, as opposed to the traditional model where advisers were remunerated by commission generated from a product sale..

It would appear that Mitch was more than two decades ahead of his time, as we are now facing the abolition of commission by our regulator the FSA, a move which we welcome with open arms.
